„Rīgas satiksme” calls to vote for new design of yellow e-ticket

Every visitor of "Rīgas satiksme" website at www.rigassatiksme.lv can watch drawings made by children and vote for the best, which will be printed on yellow e-tickets late this year. The voting will take place from May 20 till June 30, and from one computer it will be possible to vote once a day only.
This year the invitation to participate in the contest was accepted by 14 pupils from Riga Children and Youth Basketball School „Riga” (see in the picture, photo: Ieva Salmane)On May 18 a contest of children’s drawings was organized in trolleybus depot No. 2 at Jelgavas Street 37. In the first part of the contest, children were shown around the depot to see how works are organized there and to learn about the specifics of this vehicle. In the second part of the contest children under the guidance of artist Jānis Anmanis created the new design for yellow e-tickets, the contest’s theme being „Trolleybus in Riga turns 70!”.

This theme has been chosen because 70 years will pass in 2017 since the launch of trolleybus traffic in Riga. Early in 1947 the first training trolleybus route of nearly 1 km was opened in Riga between Brasa railway station and Gaisa Bridge.

„Rīgas satiksme” is continuing its 7-year old tradition of inviting children from Riga to create the e-ticket’s design. In 2015 pupils from Riga Boarding School for Children with Impaired Hearing submitted eight drawings for theme “Modern public transport”. The visitors of the company’s website preferred the drawing of Katrīna Vidnere, and yellow e-tickets with her drawing were available in early 2016.
